At New York Comic Con today, Wizards of the Coast announced their next Universes Beyond set, another part of their partnership with Marvel. The upcoming set will be called Magic: The Gathering X Marvel: Darkhold Destinies.

The third set of the Magic: The Gathering and Marvel partnership, this set will focus on the mystical side of Marvel comics - one of the somewhat less exposed sides of the lore. Most notably for the public this would presumably include Doctor Strange, and Wanda Maximoff, as well as characters like Ghost Rider. It may also include Blade, Agatha Harkness, and Moon Knight, among characters you might have heard of if you aren't a Marvel aficionado.

The set will have its own narrative about the Darkhold serving as a driving force as Thor and Doctor Strange battle against Hela and Dormammu. This will make it the first Universes Beyond set to attempt to tell its own story via cards rather than just general representation of the property.

When will Magic: The Gathering x Marvel: Darkhold Destinies Release?

Magic: The Gathering x Marvel: Darkhold Destinies will be releasing April 9th, as the second set of the year.

The first set is to be the in-universe set Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, set in a new, never before seen underwater world. Also releasing in 2027 will be Kamigawa: Titanbreach on June 4th, which will focus on the plane of Kamigawa being invaded by monsters from the plane of Ikoria, drawing on ideas of monster movies, and kaijus. The final in-universe set will be Zhalfir releasing on October 1st, featuring the plane that was phased into New Phyrexia's location.

Beyond Magic: The Gathering x Marvel: Darkhold Destinies there will be two other, currently unannounced Universes Beyond sets that will release between in-universe sets. They will be announced at a future date.
